Rubbishing reports doing rounds on social media, the spokesman for the Sharif family on Sunday said that Junaid Safdar, son of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, had not gone to Vienna, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a statement, the spokesman said that Junaid was at his home in Raiwind along with his wife.

He further said that Junaid reserved the right to take legal action against those spreading fake news.

On the other hand, Senior Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Sunday that the provincial government had decided to take those disseminating false information about the use of official plane for private purposes to court.

She said that a baseless campaign was launched to malign the Punjab government, and now those misguiding the masses should remain prepared to face the music.

Marriyum said that the provincial government would not respond to these allegations. “Instead, we will face the propagandists in court,” she said.

“Enough is enough. Now those involved in spreading fake news will not be tolerated,” she declared.

The minister said that spreading fake news was not journalism, but was character assassination.
