Smog continues to haunt the people of Lahore, as with the air quality index (AQI) recorded at 315, the Punjab capital was ranked as the second most polluted city in the world on Saturday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Indian capital New Delhi was at the top of the list, as the AQI in the city shot up to 508.
The AQI at Ravi Road in Lahore soared to 1,264, while it stood at 1,117 at Civil Secretariat.
Similarly, it was 891 at Sanda, 858 at AC Office Shalimar, 776 in and around the Government College University, 714 in and around the FC College, 675 at Phase-8, DHA, and 606 at Samanabad.
The moisture level in the air in the morning was recorded at 85 per cent.
The situation was not much different in other cities of the Punjab such as Gujranwala and Faisalabad where, too, the air quality was toxic.
Karachi, on the other hand, dropped to 18th position on the list of the world’s most polluted cities.
The AQI in the port city was recorded at 118.
There is nip in the air of the city of lights as the minimum temperature was recorded at 18 degrees Celsius, while it was 32 degrees Celsius on Friday afternoon.
Winds were blowing in the city from the north-east at a speed of eight kilometers per hour.
The level of humidity in the air stood at 65 per cent.
