Time is up for the canvassing of by-elections scheduled to be held on Sunday (October 16) as per the Election Commission of Pakistan’s code of conduct, 24NewsHD TV channel reports.
The ECP finalised arrangements for the by-elections in eight National Assembly and three Provincial Assembly constituencies.
A couple of days ago, the ECP announced the by-elections will be held on time, rejecting the request of the federal government to postpone the polls.
By-elections will be held on Oct 16 in the constituencies including NA-157 Multan IV, NA-22 Mardan III, NA-24 Charsadda II, NA-31 Peshawar V, NA-108 Faisalabad VIII, NA-118 Nankana Sahib II, NA-237 Malir II, NA-239 Korangi, PP-139 Sheikhupura, PP-241 Bahawalnagar V, and PP-209 Khanewal VII.
The ECP has written a letter to the Secretary of Interior and Defense requesting the authorities to deploy the Pak Army, Rangers, FC, and Quick Response Force outside the polling stations of the 11 constituencies to maintain law and order.
As per the ECP code of conduct, the canvassing campaign time has ended.
