The government Saturday decided to keep fuel prices unchanged for the next fortnight, reported 24NewsHd TV channel.
According to the notification issued by the Ministry of Finance regarding the prices of petroleum products, the price of petrol has been fixed at Rs Rs224.80 per liter and the price of high-speed diesel at Rs Rs235.30 per liter.
As per the notification, the price of kerosene will be maintained at Rs191.83 per liter, and the new price of light diesel at Rs186.50 per liter. The prices will be applicable from October 16 to 31.
It may be noted that the price of the crude oil is continuously decreasing in the international market.
The country’s oil refineries had also suggested petroleum products’ (POL) prices for the next 15 days based on the average price of crude oil in the market.
Sources told 24News TV channel that the refineries had proposed Rs10.78 per liter cut in the petrol price, which if implemented, would lead to drop in the price of one liter of petrol from the present Rs224.80 per liter to Rs214.02 per liter.
Similarly, they said that the refineries had suggested Rs11. 57 per liter hike in the price of High Speed Diesel (HSD). Sources informed that another suggestion was made to increase diesel’s price from Rs235. 30 per liter to Rs246. 87 per liter.
Likewise, they disclosed, a suggestion had been made to increase the price of one liter of kerosene oil by Rs4.52, which if took effect would take its price from Rs191.83 per liter to Rs196.35 per liter.
The refineries had proposed hike in the rate of light speed diesel from Rs186. 50 per liter to Rs193.98 per liter; Rs4.48 per liter hike in the price of jet fuel, and Rs8,374 per ton cut in the price of furnace oil, they explained.
