Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU), Lahore, organized a special Qira’at and Naat competition to mark Ashra Rehmatul-Lil-Alameen (ﷺ), the 50th International Seerat Conference, and the completion of 1500 years since the birth of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal attended the ceremony as Patron-in-Chief, while Molana Abdul Khabeer Azad, Chairman, Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee and Khatib of Badshahi Masjid, Lahore, graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
The program began with a soul-stirring recitation of the Holy Quran and Naat in tribute of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), followed by speeches highlighting the Prophet’s (ﷺ) teachings and practical life.
In the welcome address, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal warmly welcomed Molana Abdul Khabeer Azad and spoke about the blessed life and timeless teachings of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). He said that it is a great honor for us to be Ummati and follower of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ). He emphasized the vital role of women in Islam and reaffirmed that belief in the Khatam-E-Nabuwat (ختم نبوت) (ﷺ) is a core part of our faith. He stated that everyone should make a firm commitment to follow the teachings of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and to make Darood Shareef (ﷺ) a regular part of life.
Molana Abdul Khabeer Azad, in his speech, also highlighted the life and values of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). He stressed the importance of living life according to the Prophet’s (ﷺ) principles. He reminded that Rabi-Ul-Awwal is the month of the Prophet’s (ﷺ) Blessed Birth, and Allah Almighty sent Prophet’s (ﷺ) as a mercy for whole universe. He further emphasized that the Quran is a book of guidance for humanity. He also encouraged everyone to play an active role in promoting love and respect for Pakistan’s armed forces and national unity.
Principal Prof. Abdul Hameed, Registrar Prof. Muhammad Nadeem, Deans Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, Prof. Aliya Zahid, Prof. Taskeen Zahra, faculty members, and a large number of students, attended the event.
At the end of the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal presented an honorary shield to the Chief Guest and distributed medals and certificates to the winners of the Qira’at and Naat competition.
