India’s badminton star Jwala Gutta is receiving widespread praise for an initiative that could benefit countless newborns. After welcoming her daughter in April, she has been actively contributing to a donor milk drive at a hospital.
Jwala, who became a mother to baby Mira with husband, actor-producer Vishnu Vishal, shared the news on social media, raising awareness about the vital importance of breast milk for premature and critically ill infants.
Back in August, Jwala highlighted her mission on her X (formerly Twitter) handle. She wrote, “Breast milk saves lives. For premature and sick babies, donor milk can be life-changing. If you’re able to donate, you could be a hero to a family in need. Learn more, share the word, and support milk banks!"
According to reports, Jwala has donated 30 litres of breast milk so far. The initiative is aimed at helping babies who are without mothers, as well as premature or critically ill infants in hospitals. She has reportedly been donating milk regularly for the past four months.
A person highlighted the health benefits, saying, “Breast milk contains DHA, which is not available in powdered or other dairy milk. DHA is responsible for kids’ overall physical and cognitive development. So, thank you for doing this noble cause."
“Amazing….! So proud of you, Jwala Gutta! Champion as always," an individual said.
“You are an inspiration, ma’am. An athlete with a golden heart," read another comment.
Jwala and Vishnu got married on April 22, 2021. Exactly four years later, on their wedding anniversary, they welcomed their daughter Mira.
Vishnu shared the happy news on social media with pictures of the baby’s tiny hands and his elder son, Aryan (Vishnu’s son from a previous marriage), visiting his new stepsister. He wrote, “We are blessed with a BABY GIRL. Aryan is an elder brother now… It’s our 4th wedding anniversary today… On the same day, we welcome this gift from the Almighty…Need all your love and blessings."
