Floodwaters from the Indus River have unleashed devastation across Kashmore, Guddu Barrage, Obaro, and Uch Sharif, submerging dozens of villages, destroying homes, and drowning standing crops.
The 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday that the high flood situation persists in these areas, forcing residents to flee their homes in search of safety.
Water level rising in Kashmore, Guddu Barrage:
In Kashmore, the water level continues to rise, inundating more villages. At Guddu Barrage, the flow has crossed 635,000 cusecs, with water levels climbing by 23,490 cusecs in the past 24 hours. The situation has put immense pressure on protective embankments, threatening nearby communities.
More villages submerged in Obaro:
In Obaro, multiple villages were submerged as floodwaters swept through agricultural lands, leaving residents with no option but to migrate.
Several settlements submerged in Uch Sharif:
Similarly, in Uch Sharif, floodwaters from the Head Panjnad submerged entire settlements, washing away hundreds of livestock. Villagers in Chakar Di Basti, Basti Daulatpur, Basti Huso Khan, Basti Abdullah Khan Bhaghla, Basti Nehr, Basti Mahesar, Basti Theme, and Basti Bhanda Poli have been left stranded without relief.
No tents, food, and kids' milk for flood victims:
Locals complain that no tents, food, or official aid have reached them. Many families said they were trapped with children, belongings, and animals amid scorching heat and swarms of mosquitoes, relying only on donations from private philanthropists.
“Our homes and possessions are gone. We beg the government to declare our area a calamity-hit area and provide us relief,” flood victims appealed.
Sutlej washes away homes and crops in Arifwala, Qaboola:
In Arifwala, floods washed away homes and crops, leaving survivors in roadside camps. In Ahmedpur Sial, water has receded but left devastation behind, with several localities like Pahanpur still under four feet of stagnant water, crippling transport and daily life.
Meanwhile, the raging flood in the Sutlej River has swallowed livelihoods in Qaboola, sweeping away property as children, women, and the elderly endure life under the open sky.
Displaced residents' helpless situation:
In Tranda Muhammad Panah, displaced residents sit helplessly on embankments without government assistance. Families in Tibbi Jhalan remain exposed under the open sky, with no tents provided despite repeated appeals.
