Punjab Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic has ordered a strict province-wide crackdown on the use of pressure horns, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
A strict ban on the use of pressure horns is in effect across the province starting today.
The DIG Traffic directed all CTOs and DTOs to ensure indiscriminate action against the use of pressure horns.
Action will be taken against horn usage near hospitals, educational institutions, emergency centers, and in restricted zones.
Action will also be taken against the use of horns in a continuous or incessant manner.
Owners of commercial vehicles were warned must and immediately remove pressure horns from their vehicles.
According to data, over 383,000 citizens have been fined this year for using pressure horns and continuous honking.
Lahore Traffic Police issued challans to 48,000 citizens for the improper use of horns.
The use of pressure horns and continuous honking is harmful to human hearing and neurological health.
The crackdown on pressure horns has led to a reduction in noise pollution.
