Former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramiz Raja Tuesday urged Pakistan and India to play bilateral cricket series on 'neutral grounds', reported 24NewsHD TV channel.  

Speaking to his fans on social media, he said one thing remained clear: cricket between the two nations is more than just a sport; it's a necessity.

“The game has a unique power to bridge divides and unite people, regardless of politics.”

Former Pakistan skipper said that if experienced cricketers were to step into administrative roles in PCB, they could untangle the mess and bring about much-needed solutions.

Responding to the query in line with Mohammad Amir, Raja said: "It is better to play cricket by zipping your mouth.

"Nobody can stop me from opposing match fixtures."

Talking about the national team opening pair, Raja said Rizwan and Baber Azam have a good record and chemistry. He expressed his wish to see white-ball captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan as the openers.

Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja said that Baber is a good captain and can handle his colleagues not only in the ground but also in the dressing room.

The ex-captain acknowledged the leadership of Azam, saying, "Babar Azam has now emerged as the much better captain. Babar Azam knows the art of keeping the team united. He is smart enough to be the leader."

Expressing sympathies with Shaheen Shah Afridi, he said it was unfair to oust speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi from the captaincy after only one series.

Expressing his thoughts, Raja said: "What had happened to Shaheen Shah Afridi also happened to me. It would have been to take Shaheen Shah Afridi in confidence ahead of deciding the captaincy."

The renowned commentator said, "The experiments cannot be made as the ICC World T20 Cup is around the corner."

Raja stressed the need to play at least two matches in the United States ahead of the World Cup.

 He was of the view that it would be better to go with three fast bowlers in the World Cup.
