The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to take constitutional steps for conducting free and fair elections. For this purpose, the Election Commission asked the caretaker prime minister, chief ministers and cabinet members to submit details of their assets within 3 days, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
According to the report, the Election Commission secretary wrote a letter to the caretaker prime minister, and caretaker chief ministers of Sindh, Balochistan issuing instructions to the supervisory governments that the Election Commission is responsible for conducting elections after the dissolution of assemblies.
Election Commission further instructed caretaker governments should ensure the support of the Election Commission for fair and transparent elections instead of trying to suppress and disrupt the election,
It is the job of the Election Commission to ensure fair, transparent and timely elections, Election Commission’s post revealed adding the best environment should be provided for the conduct of elections and every political party should be given a level playing field.
Election Commission also instructed that appointments and transfers shall not be made without the prior permission of the Election Commission imposing a ban on all types of recruitments of federal, provincial and local institutions of the Election Commission imposing a ban on all kinds of work in development schemes of the federal and provincial governments.
The Election Commission has also ordered to terminate the employment of political figures recruited in all institutions.
The Election Commission has directed the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, Cabinet Members, Advisors and Members of Assembly to vacate their official residences immediately by issuing orders to take back official vehicles from former such office holders.
However, adherent governments may implement existing international and bilateral agreements, the post of the election commission concluded.
