An accountability court of Lahore has handed over former Punjab chief minister and PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to NAB on six-day physical remand, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The accountability court also accepted on Tuesday the National Accountability Bureau’s request to carry on the proceedings of the case till the Supreme Court or High Court decides the case.

Elahi’s lawyer Amjad Pervaiz requested the court to remand the PTI leader to police custody for two days until the High Court decides the case as we want the case to be taken forward when the High Court decision comes.

He said that Elahi is over 70-year-old, we want him to get medical and home food. He should also be allowed the visit of his personal physician for his medical check-up, the lawyer added.

Elahi was rearrested by Lahore NAB team headed by Deputy Director Najamul Hassan on Monday soon after his release from Rawalpindi Adiala Jail. He was released upon the completion of his 30-day detention, which was under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).

Yesterday, the NAB team produced Elahi before a court of duty magistrate who granted one-day transit remand of the PTI leader who was later brought to Lahore.

On June 9, the NAB initiated an inquiry against Elahi, his son Moonis Elahi and other family members for their alleged involvement in embezzlement in development projects in Gujrat and Mandi Bahauddin.
