Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan has dispatched its first major convoy of relief goods to flood-affected areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan,24NewsHDTV reported on Saturday.
The convoy, which left today, comprises eight ambulances, three mobile health units, and five trucks carrying food items, medical aid, and shelter supplies.
According to officials, the consignment includes 2,000 tarpaulins, hundreds of tents, six tons of powdered milk, six tons of dry food, mosquito nets, and other essential items as the organization has ramped up emergency operations following devastating torrential rains and flash floods.
The relief effort was formally flagged off by Alkhidmat Foundation President Dr Hafeez ur Rehman and Vice President Air Marshal (retd) Arshad Malik.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Rehman announced that an additional 17 trucks will depart from Chakdara to Buner by Sunday, ensuring wider coverage of aid to affected communities.
Dr Rehman noted that Alkhidmat’s volunteers are actively working in Buner, Upper Dir, Bajaur, and other disaster-hit areas, carrying out evacuation and rescue operations.
He said hundreds of stranded people, including women, children, and the elderly, have already been shifted to safer locations.
Alongside emergency rescue, the foundation is distributing cooked meals, clean drinking water, tents, and providing essential medical services.
Expressing sorrow over the heavy loss of lives and property, Dr Rehman said, “Alkhidmat will not abandon the flood-affected families in this difficult time and will extend every possible support.”
The ceremony was also attended by Provincial Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami North Punjab Iqbal Khan, Regional Presidents Rizwan Ahmed and Altaf Sher, District President Rawalpindi Haroon Rasheed, as well as several senior officials and volunteers.
Alkhidmat officials reiterated their appeal for public donations and support to sustain large-scale humanitarian operations as the crisis unfolds.
