The White House has accused China of large-scale trade evasion aimed at avoiding US tariffs, but Chinese officials and experts have rejected the allegation, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to the US report, Chinese goods are being sent to the United States through more than 40 countries, including India and Israel, in an effort to avoid tariffs.
According to the TV channel, the report claims that the practice could save up to $300 billion in duties. US President Donald Trump shared the report on social media.
Pakistan is not included among the countries identified in the report as being used to illegally send Chinese goods to the United States.
Meanwhile, the Chinese embassy in Washington DC rejected the US allegations and said tariffs and trade wars did not produce winners.
The embassy said third-party interests should not be targeted through unilateral measures against goods being shipped through other countries.
Beijing also rejected the use of national security as a reason to restrict Chinese goods and opposed unilateral tariffs. The Chinese government said it would take measures to protect its interests if necessary.
Chinese officials and experts also rejected the US accusation of deceptive trade practices.
They said companies diversifying their production was a normal change in global supply chains and should not automatically be described as an attempt to avoid tariffs.
The dispute comes as the United States and China continue to face tensions over trade and tariffs, with both sides defending their economic interests.
