Customs Enforcement Quetta has seized narcotics, smuggled goods and vehicles worth approximately Rs1.38 billion during two major operations, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) said in a statement.
According to the FBR, the seized items included 22.14 kilograms of narcotics, smuggled cigarettes, betel nuts (chalia), Indian medicines, China salt, auto parts, one car and three Hino trucks.
In the first operation, officials of the Customs Collectorate intercepted three containers at Ziarat Cross that were being transported towards Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Upon inspection, the containers were found to be carrying a large quantity of smuggled goods, which were taken into custody.
In a separate action, Customs Enforcement Quetta, with the assistance of Ziarat Cross police, recovered narcotics from a vehicle.
The drugs had been cleverly concealed in the spare wheel fitted underneath the vehicle, the FBR said.
The estimated value of the recovered narcotics in the international market is around Rs1.23 billion, according to officials.
All seized narcotics, smuggled goods, and vehicles have been taken into custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated under the Customs Act, 1969, the FBR added.
