The prosecution failed to prove its case as after nine years an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi on Tuesday acquitted Ex-MPA of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Kamran Farooqui in two cases of possessing illegal arms and explosives due to want of evidence, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Abid Zaman Advocate, one of the counsels for the ex-MPA, said that Rangers had arrested Farooqui from his home following an operation at Nine Zero, the headquarters of the MQM-P. “Two cases were registered against him,” he added.

Another counsel for Farooqui, Usama Ali Gujjar, said that the prosecution did not have any proof against his client. “Therefore, he should be acquitted in both cases,” he requested.

The prosecutors, on the other hand, told the court that Rangers had arrested the ex-MPA in December, 2016 during snap checking in Garden area.

Illegal weapons and a hand grenade had been recovered from Farooqui during checking, they added.
