The Motorway Police have closed sections of Motorway M4 and M5 due to dense fog to ensure the safety of road users.
According to Syed Imran Ahmed, spokesperson for the Motorway Police Central Region, the M4 motorway from Khanewal to Multan and the M5 motorway from Multan to Rohri have been temporarily closed as visibility dropped to dangerous levels.
The Motorway Police said the decision to close the motorways was taken to protect the lives and property of the public. The spokesperson warned that lane violations during foggy conditions can lead to serious and fatal accidents.
Road users have been advised to strictly follow lane discipline and avoid unnecessary travel during dense fog. The Motorway Police recommended preferring travel during daytime hours in urban areas, noting that the safest travel time during foggy conditions is between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Drivers have also been instructed to use fog lights, avoid over-speeding and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front. The Motorway Police urged motorists to exercise extreme caution until weather conditions improve.
For further guidance or assistance, commuters have been advised to contact the Motorway Police helpline at 130.
