The performance of the National Assembly (NA) during the year 2025 has been detailed in an official report, highlighting a high approval rate for government legislation alongside limited success for private members’ initiatives.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel report, a total of 42 government bills were introduced in the National Assembly during the year, all of which were passed.
In contrast, lawmakers tabled 49 private members’ bills, but only 13 managed to secure approval, reflecting the continuing challenges faced by non-government legislation.
Overall, Parliament enacted 31 laws in 2025. During the same period, eight presidential ordinances were laid before the National Assembly, underscoring the executive’s continued reliance on ordinances for legislation.
The report further noted that the Senate forwarded 16 government bills and 30 private members’ bills to the National Assembly. Lawmakers in the lower house also adopted 25 resolutions over the course of the year.
Parliamentary oversight activity remained extensive, with the House receiving 336 call attention notices, though only 53 were taken up for debate. Additionally, 295 motions were submitted under Rule 259 during 2025.
On matters of accountability, 33 privilege questions related to public accounts and other issues were submitted to the National Assembly. The report added that 11 adjournment motions were received during the year, all of which were either rejected or lapsed without discussion.
