The Punjab government has approved 300 million rupees in funding for mosques and religious schools affiliated with a religious party, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
According to the report, the government has taken control of these institutions, which had initially requested a total of 740 million rupees for operational expenses.
Following objections from the Punjab Finance Department, the budget was revised downward.
The administrative costs, including salaries, electricity, gas, and other expenditures from October through June 2026, will now be managed by the Auqaf Department.
Authorities confirmed that mosques and schools linked to the party will continue to function under government supervision to ensure transparency and proper administration.
