The US Joint Task Force Southern Spear launched an attack on three drug-smuggling vessels in the Pacific Ocean, killing eight people on board, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
According to the US Southern Command, the operation was carried out in international waters under the orders of US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth.
Southern Command officials said the vessels were actively involved in drug trafficking at the time of the strike.
The attack is part of ongoing U.S. efforts to disrupt international narcotics networks operating in the Pacific.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and assess further threats in the region.
