Islamabad United Thursday won the toss and elected to field first in their match against Karachi Kings in the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League.
It is the opening match of the season for Islamabad United while Karachi Kings are playing their second match.
Kings remained agonizingly short of victory against Peshawar Zalmi in their first match of the event when Shoaib Malik and Imad Wasim brought them to the brink while chasing a mammoth 200-run target but fell two runs short in the end.
United are the only team with two titles under the belt and are looking to add a third one. On paper, United are the most balanced side having all the ingredients needed to victory.
"We don't know how the pitch will behave so we want to know what we're chasing," says United captain Shadab Khan. "Munro, Rassie, Stirling, Tom Curran are the overseas players."
Before the start of the match, the PSL teams also observed Golden Ribbon Day for childhood cancer awareness.
