Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) central leader Farooq Sattar has demanded the immediate release of Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chairman Afaq Ahmed, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
Addressing a press conference at Bahadurabad on Sunday, Farooq Sattar condemned Afaq Ahmed’s arrest, calling it unacceptable and politically motivated.
He warned that a conspiracy is being hatched to incite ethnic riots between Mohajirs and Pashtuns.
“The stage is being set for violence in Karachi, just like in 1985,” he cautioned, adding that the mastermind behind the dumper mafia must be arrested immediately.
Farooq Sattar made it clear that neither Afaq Ahmed nor MQM-P had anything to do with the burning of dumpers. He urged the government to form an investigation commission to uncover the real culprits behind Karachi’s recent tensions.
He further stated, “We have exercised patience so far, but if the authorities don’t take corrective measures, Karachi’s peace will be at risk."
Farooq Sattar also warned that if a 'reverse gear’ is not applied, the city could spiral into chaos.
The MQM-P leader emphasised that linguistic riots have never been part of MQM’s policy, but once again, a sinister plot is being devised to pit Mohajirs and Pashtuns against each other.
