Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) has imposed a drought emergency due to the reduction in water reserves and underground water level, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
In this regard, Managing Director (MD) Wasa Saleem Ashraf said that a one-month ban has been imposed on washing cars at service stations and in homes.
MD Wasa instructed that people should avoid washing cars and floors of urban homes with avoiding watering gardens. He warned that strict action will be taken against violators.
Drought has increased to dangerous levels due to lack of rains and the de-silting of Khanpur Dam, due to which water supply has been further reduced.
The daily demand of water in the city is 70 million gallons, while the daily supply of 51 million gallons has decreased by another 5 million gallons from the dam.
