Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry on Monday criticised a recent sit-in, saying that food was served to participants, including people who were not parliamentarians.
Addressing the media, he claimed that armed men were taken to the Parliament Lodges at a time when families were present, terming the move a violation of the sanctity of parliament. He added that new SOPs and instructions have been issued following the recent terrorist incident in Islamabad.
Talal stated that Pakistan is dealing with “cowards who do not even spare mosques and imambargahs,” emphasizing the seriousness of the security challenges being faced by the country.
Referring to the jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, who is founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Talal said reports regarding him must have reached the Supreme Court and that he had been examined in detail, with the reports found to be satisfactory. He said the PTI founder “has the eyes like young men” and he can see and read.
He added that those who were staging sit-ins must be disappointed with the reports that Imran Khan's eye is fine now. According to the minister, PTI's politics is over and it is now waiting for an accident to happen.
Talal concluded by saying that the protest had failed, and noted that both the opposition leader and the chief minister had also been changed.
