The Sindh government has enforced the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act 2024, introducing major reforms in vehicle number plate registration across the province, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.
According to a notification issued by the Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department, Sindh, vehicle owners will now be officially registered as the holders of number plates linked to their national identity cards (CNICs).
A department spokesperson said that the new law also introduces two additional number plate series tied to CNICs.
Moreover, owners will have the option to use their CNIC-linked plates on a second vehicle they purchase, allowing for greater flexibility while maintaining official registration and accountability.
