In Karachi, concerns are mounting as the number of missing young girls continues to rise at an alarming rate, with an 18-year-old girl and her infant son among the latest reported cases.
Sonia, 18, went missing on February 12 after leaving her home for a nearby shop. According to her mother, Sonia had stepped out on Wednesday but never returned. The family says Sonia had taken along her eight-month-old son at the time.
Speaking exclusively to City 21, the missing girl’s mother said that even after six days, there has been no information regarding the whereabouts of her daughter and grandson. She alleged that police have not provided adequate cooperation in tracing them.
The mother revealed that Sonia had received a phone call from a girl named Iqrah before leaving home for the shop. Sonia had previously worked at Iqrah’s residence and would visit the house regularly.
She added that since Sonia went missing on Wednesday, Iqrah reportedly vacated her residence a day earlier. The family claims that attempts to contact Iqrah’s mother have been unsuccessful, as she has not responded or opened the door when approached.
The family has appealed for immediate action to locate Sonia and her child.
