The activities of students organisations banned after a violent clash between rival groups at the University of Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
University’s Adviser Student Affairs Dr Nosheen Raza has issued a formal notification in this regard which says: “All activities of student groups associated with various political parties are prohibited with immediate effect until further orders. This is issued with the approval of the Vice Chancellor.”
A group of students armed with sticks reportedly barged into the administration building to thrash two students of the opposing student body on Monday evening, after which Rangers and police personnel rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
A copy of the notice was also sent to all department chairs, institute directors, 62 wing deans and wing commanders. It was the first day of session 2024 in University of Karachi. On this occasion, 6,000 students were admitted in various morning programmes, admissions are still going on in evening programmes.
Members of one student organization entered the Mehmood Hussain Library and attacked rival students present there with sticks which created chaos across the campus.
