The Punjab government has announced that Basant 2026 celebrations will be allowed not only on rooftops but also in parks and other open spaces across the provincial capital, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday.
According to officials, kite-flying will be permitted in designated parks under strict SOPs, ensuring that festivities can be enjoyed safely.
The move aims to expand participation and bring the vibrant spirit of Basant to a wider public.
Raja Mansoor, DG of the Punjab Arts and Culture Authority, said that Basant is no longer limited to rooftops, and the conditional approval for celebrations in parks will allow residents to partake in the festival while adhering to safety protocols.
The administration emphasized that strict SOP compliance will be mandatory for making the city-wide Basant celebrations, a colorful and safe festival for citizens.
