Amid ongoing monsoon rains in the city, a sudden fire broke out in the cargo section of Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport last night, causing extensive damage to property but no reported loss of life, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.

According to rescue sources, the fire erupted in the cargo area and quickly engulfed the entire storage shed. The blaze prompted an immediate response, with Rescue 1122 teams arriving at the scene soon after receiving the emergency call.

Firefighters battled the flames for nearly one and a half hours before successfully extinguishing the fire. At least eight fire trucks were deployed to control the blaze.

Preliminary reports indicate that goods worth millions of rupees were destroyed in the inferno. However, no injuries or fatalities were reported.

The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined, though sources suspect it may be linked to the ongoing rainy weather conditions, which have strained city infrastructure and triggered multiple emergencies in the last 24 hours.

Authorities are now conducting a thorough investigation to assess the extent of the damage and determine the cause of the fire.
