Two policemen embraced martyrdom on Wednesday when unidentified gunmen opened fire on them outside the Kalachi Police Station, reported 24NewsHD TV.
According to the District Police Officer (DPO) of Dera Ismail Khan, the attack occurred as the officers were exiting the police station.
The assailants, whose identities remain unknown, suddenly launched the armed assault, killing both officers on the spot.
The martyred officials were later identified as Head Constable Ghulam Mohammad and Constable Shehzad. Both were ex-servicemen who had continued to serve their country in the police force.
Following the attack, the Crime Control Department (CCD) responded swiftly, cordoned off the area, and launched a comprehensive search operation to track down the perpetrators.
This is not the first such attack in the region. In March 2025, a similar act of violence near Moosa Zai Adda in Dera Ismail Khan claimed the life of a police constable and injured a civilian. The injured individual was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Security has been tightened across the district as investigations continue.
