The Sindh Police has introduced a new media policy requiring all officers to obtain approval from the Inspector General (IG) of Police before speaking to the media in an official capacity.
Police officers will not be allowed to participate in media briefings, interviews, podcasts, television or radio programmes, or press conferences without the permission of the IG Sindh.
Officers have also been instructed to limit their public remarks to the approved agenda and talking points.
Unauthorised media interactions could affect the institution's reputation and official policy.
The circular warns that sharing information related to ongoing investigations, intelligence, or operational matters is strictly prohibited.
The Sindh Police said the new guidelines are aimed at ensuring legal compliance and protecting the institution's credibility and official policy.
Supervisory officers have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the policy, with the circular warning of departmental action against officers found violating the media policy.
