The program for training specialist doctors in 44 disciplines in Punjab's government teaching hospitals has been halted which was creating serious crisis, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.

Previously, more than a hundred doctors used to enroll in second fellowship programs annually. Currently, one thousand doctors are pursuing a second fellowship in Punjab's government teaching hospitals. Second fellowships have been suspended in various specialties, including Pediatrics, Surgery, Radiology, and Oncology.

Second fellowships have also been halted in specialties such as Vascular Surgery, Urogynecology, and Interventional Cardiology. There is a serious risk of a shortage of specialist doctors across many departments due to the suspension of these fellowships.
