Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi head and candidate for the mayorship of the city Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman announced to challenge the election results in the count.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, he addressed a news conference after the Karachi mayorship elections at Arts Council on Thursday evening.
Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman fixed the allegations of rigging in the mayor's election from the opponent candidate of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Murtaza Wahab and refused to accept the results.
The JI candidate talking to media persons refused to accept the results accusing it of rigging and said he will knock on the door of the court after the people.
Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman also gave a hint at holding protest rallies against the rigging in the Karachi mayor elections and said he will go to the public for his democratic right.
He strongly condemned the ruling party's tactics of rigging of stopping his allied party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members to join the election process.
He said the JI has 130 votes and can easily meet the required figure for winning the seat with the support of more than 50 confirmed votes of the allied PTI.
He also strongly condemned the violent attacks and arrests of the JI members outside the council from law enforcement agencies and the PPP workers during the polling.
Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said that 31 people including 2 women of PTI were abducted and disappeared to prevent them from casting their vote.
He demanded the authorities that this fake election should be declared null and void and a new schedule should be issued.
He also announced that there will be a protest on Shahrah Qaidin on Friday, June 16 and Black Day will be celebrated across the country.
