Six people including two women died in an armed clash between two groups of Jatoi tribe in Shikarpur, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
According to the Shikarpur senior superintendent of police (SSP), the clash between Zeddu and Rattu groups of Jatoi tribe took place over old enmity for ‘honour’.
The bodies of the deceased identified as Mai Khatun, Parvezan Mai, Ratu, Irshad, Bakhsh Ali, and Sodar were shifted to Khanpur Hospital.
Police personnel were dispatched to the area to prevent further bloodshed.
It is to be noted here that dozens of people are murdered every year on the accusation of adultery for ‘honour’.
Despite the government’s claims, announcements and legislation, the incidents of murder and clash between clans have not been controlled so far.
Irresponsible use of cell phones is stated to be the main reason behind the increase in the incidents of honour killing.
