Hundreds of acres of agricultural land was inundated after a 50-feet wide breach developed in Bhind Mine Canal near Ghotki, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
According to details, due to the breach, water entered in the houses and destroyed hundreds of acres of agricultural land and households.
To make matters worse, the Sindh Department of Irrigation failed to take any action despite receiving a complaint, leaving the locals to try to plug the breach on their own.
Later, residents of the area staged a protest demonstration on the National Highway. Traffic became jammed due to the protest.
Long queues of vehicles were witnessed on the Sindh-Punjab border areas. Local residents also complained that entire households were destroyed after water entered in their houses.
Local farmers stated that their protest will continue till repair of the breach.
