Four independent candidates elected to the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly have joined the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.
The announcement was made following a meeting with Federal Minister Aleem Khan.
The lawmakers who joined the IPP include Muhammad Dilpazir from GBA-15 Diamer-I, Aman Ali from GBA-21 Ghizer-III, Anwar Ali from GBA-23 Ghanche, and Asad Shafiq from GBA-24 Ghanche-III.
Speaking during a meeting with the lawmakers, President of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) and Federal Minister Aleem Khan welcomed them, expressing confidence that they will contribute to the region’s progress and prosperity.
Aleem Khan said the IPP warmly welcomes its new members and will work tirelessly for the development and well-being of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The newly inducted assembly members expressed full confidence in Aleem Khan’s leadership and described their decision to join the IPP as a step aimed at strengthening efforts for public welfare and regional development.
They said it was encouraging that the IPP would secure representation in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly for the first time, adding that they would play an active role in the region’s development through hard work, dedication, and honesty.
Aleem Khan said Gilgit-Baltistan possesses enormous growth potential, particularly in the fields of infrastructure and tourism.
He noted that significant improvements could also be achieved in health, education, information technology, and employment generation, which would remain key priorities for future development initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Dilpazir said the four successful independent candidates had formed a group and collectively decided to become part of the IPP.
He added that they were also in contact with other independent lawmakers as well as members of the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM).
Dilpazir said efforts would continue to persuade more elected members to join the party, expressing confidence that the IPP would emerge as the second-largest political force in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly.
