Pakistani actor and musician Haroon Shahid has shared his thoughts on how the perception of Pakistan changes when Indians watch Pakistani dramas.

Haroon said that entertainment often presents a different image of the country than the one many people are exposed to through news and social media.

Speaking on a podcast, Haroon discussed the trolling and criticism that Pakistanis sometimes face online from Indian users.

According to him, many people form opinions about Pakistan based on narratives they have consumed for years.

However, he believes that viewers who watch Pakistani dramas often discover a different side of the country.

Haroon noted that Pakistani television dramas have become increasingly popular across the border because they showcase everyday life, family relationships, culture and social realities.

He said that some viewers who begin watching these productions are surprised to find that Pakistan is not always the way it is portrayed in political debates or sensational headlines.

During the discussion, he also mentioned that media narratives can strongly influence public perception, particularly among audiences who have never visited Pakistan themselves.

According to Haroon, exposure to Pakistani entertainment allows people to see a more relatable and human side of society.

The conversation also touched broader issues surrounding online discourse, stereotypes and the role of entertainment as a form of cultural connection.

Talking about Pakistani dramas, Haroon said they have gained popularity in recent years, particularly among viewers in neighboring countries like India and Bangladesh.
