Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken a jibe at the previous rulers for, what he called, keeping on a money-minting spree inflicting big damage on the national economy, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
The opposition leaders know that if PM Imran Khan stays in power, they will all go to jail, he said during his address to a public meeting in Swat on Wednesday.
He took the credit of getting adopted a UN resolution designating 15 March as International Day to Combat Islamophobia. He said the previous rulers did nothing to address such a serious matter. The prime minister called the ex-premier Nawaz Sharif a jackal saying: “The nation of lions whose leader is a jackal like Nawaz Sharif will be defeated.”
The premier told the participants that he would show hunting three rats in a single strike.
PM Imran Khan said the JUI-F chief blamed him to be part of the Jewish lobby but he (the premier) got a resolution against Islamophobia passed in the United Nations.
"I want to ask you Fazlur Rehman if you ever persuade any Western leader to speak against Islamophobia in 30 years of you standing in every government,”
The premier explained that after the 9/11 attacks in the United States, the West described terrorism as Islam and terrorist as Muslim.
He said: “They started hurting the Muslim sentiments by committing blasphemy and said the Muslims were narrow-minded if they reacted to the blasphemous act.
"Terrorism has no religion, and despite Islam having no link with terrorism, a perception was created that terrorism is being spread across the world due to terrorism.
"I, my Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, our ambassador Munir Akram, and our Foreign Office were trying to get a resolution against Islamophobia passed in the United Nations for the past three years.”
The prime minister said he has been receiving felicitation from across the Muslim world after the UN passed the resolution to mark March 15 as International Day to Combat Islamophobia.
He called upon the people to elect the PTI candidates to power so that the looters could be landed in jail.
“A huge chunk of money was used for horse-trading in Sindh,” he said and questioned the commission if horse-trading is allowed in the constitution.
The prime minister is on a one-day trip to Swat ahead of the second phase of the local body polls in KP, though the district monitoring officer issued a warning.
The commission stated the president, prime minister and others were disallowed electioneering in accordance with the elections code of conduct.
According to the election code of conduct, announcements for any development scheme by the public office-bearers were banned after the unveiling of the polls’ schedule.
On March 11, the ECP served notices to PM Khan and others over alleged violation of the code of conduct.
