Five personnel of the Frontier Corps were martyred after a remote-controlled bomb exploded in the Kali Bakhtiar Khan area of Tehsil Loni in Duki District of Balochistan, police officials said.
According to the police, the explosion targeted a vehicle of the Frontier Corps. The blast occurred when the FC personnel were returning to Duki after completing an operation against poppy cultivation in the area.
Police said the convoy involved in the operation also included vehicles from the police and the Anti-Terrorism Force Pakistan (ATF). Initial reports indicate that the police and ATF vehicles had already passed through the location when the explosion took place.
Officials said a powerful blast occurred as soon as the FC vehicle reached the spot in the Kali Bakhtiar Khan area of Tehsil Loni, resulting in the deaths of five FC personnel.
Following the incident, security forces and police cordoned off the area and began collecting evidence from the site of the explosion. Authorities said further investigations are under way to determine the circumstances of the attack.
