In a breakthrough, the police have arrested a man for having “illicit relations” with a woman who was axed to death by her husband along with their five children in Sargodha, reported 24HD News Channel on Monday.
Police said that the accused, Yaseen Mallah, killed his wife, daughter and four sons after suspecting his woman having extramarital affair with another man.
Police said that after killing his wife, daughter, and four sons, the accused, a labourer, later tried to kill himself.
When accused Yaseen’s brother entered the house after climbing the wall, he noticed that all the people were dead.
Police arrested the friend of the woman, who was later identified as Abdul Rehman.
Police handed over the dead bodies to the heirs of the victims. Police filed a first information report (FIR) on behalf of the victim woman’s brother and started an investigation.
On Sunday, Yaseen killed his wife and five children with an axe in a tragic incident in Chak 25 South within the limits of Bhagtanwala police station in Sargodha, police said.
According to initial reports, the accused, identified as Yaseen Mallah, attacked his family members with an axe, killing his four sons, one daughter, and his wife.
Police said the suspect also attempted to take his own life after the incident and sustained injuries. He was shifted to a hospital in critical condition.
District Police Officer (DPO) Sargodha Muhammad Sohaib Ashraf took notice of the incident and sought a report from the SDPO Saddar. The DPO also visited the scene.
Rescue 1122 teams, forensic experts and the crime scene unit reached the site and began collecting evidence.
Police said an investigation was underway to determine the circumstances and motives behind the incident.
Officials added that evidence gathered from the scene would help establish the facts of the case.
The deceased were identified as 34-year-old Farkhanda, 18-year-old Noor Fatima, 14-year-old Ali Hassan, 11-year-old Tayyab Hassan, one-and-a-half-year-old Hasnain and an unnamed baby.
