The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Pakistan on Monday rejected claims made by a spokesperson of the Taliban, describing them as misleading and an attempt to distort facts.
In a fact-check statement, the ministry said the claim by the “so-called spokesperson” of the Taliban regime was a misreporting of facts aimed at misleading public opinion.
According to the statement, on the night of 16 March, Pakistan carried out precise strikes targeting military installations and terrorist support infrastructure belonging to the Afghan Taliban and Fitna al-Khawarij in Kabul and Nangarhar.
The ministry said the targeted locations included storage facilities for technical equipment and ammunition that were allegedly being used against innocent Pakistani civilians. It added that the detonation of stored ammunition after the strikes contradicted what it described as false claims circulated by the Taliban.
The statement further maintained that Pakistan’s targeting was precise and carefully carried out to ensure that no collateral damage occurred.
It said the portrayal of the targeted site as a drug rehabilitation facility was a misrepresentation intended to provoke public sentiment and conceal what the ministry described as illegitimate support to cross-border terrorism.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting categorically rejected the statement attributed to the Taliban spokesperson, calling it false and misleading.
