Punjab Cabinet members, Special Assistants and Parliamentary Secretaries will donate their two months' salaries to the Prime Minister's Austerity Fund. The decision was taken during a meeting of the Provincial Cabinet held via video link with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif in the chair in Lahore today. The cabinet approved provision of land for the establishment of Mian Nawaz Sharif University of Engineering and Technology in Kasur.
Punjab Cabinet also approved the charter of the Quaid-e-Azam Institute of Sciences in Sargodha, a cyber-security project scheme and construction of a sports complex in Kundian.
The meeting approved creation of 137 posts for the Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Centre.
The cabinet also granted approval for completion of Sheikh Zayed II Teaching Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan. Besides, the cabinet approved the Punjab Policy on Narcotics Cases 2025 and the Punjab Criminal Prosecution Services Rules.
Punjab Assembly also joins austerity drive, Assembly members will voluntarily donate 25 percent of their two months' salary and allowances to the Prime Minister's Provident Fund. All government officers in grade 17 and above in Punjab will donate two days' basic salary to the Provident Fund.
During the meeting, funds were approved for construction of electric bus stop shelters across Punjab, for purchase of 10 government vehicles for the Supreme Court, approval for Nawaz Sharif Engineering and Technology University in Kasur, charter of Quaid-e-Azam Institute of Sciences in Sargodha, Water distribution for Rawalpindi city and construction of Charid Dam and Cyber Security Project Scheme was also approved. Cabinet okay construction of sports complex in Kundian, MIanwali.
