While chairing an important meeting held to review the law and order situation in the province and the legal proceedings against those responsible for vandalism on May 9 last, Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi approved action against the vandals under the Army Act and the formation of a joint investigation team (JIT) for cases against them, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The caretaker chief minister ordered to ensure the arrest of those involved in the May 9 incidents as soon as possible.
He laid emphasis on the mutual cooperation of all the security agencies to identify the real perpetrators of terrorist incidents.
He also directed to devise an effective mechanism to identify the facilitators and masterminds of the incidents.
The meeting was briefed that the accused were being traced out through the geofencing of 32 places. The faces of the accused were also being identified with the help of the database of National Database Registration Authority (NADRA).
The chief minister directed to adopt a foolproof procedure to verify the allegations against the persons arrested on the charge of vandalism on May 9.
“The police authorities should act in a professional manner to ensure that no innocent person is arrested. Legal action against all the miscreants should be carried out in a professional manner,” he added.
“After a professional and legally effective investigation, the prosecution should do its job well so that no one responsible gets away,” he emphasised.
The provincial ministers and officers concerned had attended the meeting.
CM inaugurates CBD Kalma Chowk Main Boulevard project
Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi Tuesday inaugurated CBD Kalma Chowk Maiin Boulevard project.
The chief minister unveiled the monument and also offered a prayer. The officials concerned were present on the occasion. They briefed the chief minister about the project.
The project was started in 2022 at a cost of Rs4.2 billion, and it was to be completed on June 3 as per the contract. It, however, completed ahead of the scheduled date with the day and night efforts of the caretaker chief minister.
The CBD planted as many as 10,000 saplings as part of the project. Around 300,000 vehicles will be benefited from the project.
