The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday granted bail to former principal secretary to Punjab chief minister Muhammad Khan Bhatti over submission of Rs500,000 worth of surety bonds, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The bail plea of Muhammad Khan Bhatti was heard by LHC judge Justice Shakeel Ahmed before whom petitioner’s lawyer Amjad Pervaiz argued that the prosecution had failed to prove the charges.

He stated that there had been an allegation of taking commission in the construction of roads. “But there is no evidence for that,” he added.

Deputy Prosecutor General Chaudhry Mustafa, counsel for the Punjab government, opposed the bail plea, stating that accused Highway Xen Rana Iqbal confessed to giving commission.

“Rs500,000 had also been recovered from accused Muhammad Khan Bhatti,” he added.
