Federal Health Minister Dr. Malik Mukhtar Ahmad Bharath said Pakistan and Russia share strong and friendly relations built on cooperation and trust, adding that ties between the two countries would continue to deepen in the coming years, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.
He made the remarks while addressing an alumni gathering organized to mark the 25th anniversary of the Association of Pakistani Graduates from Russia and CIS in Lahore.
The minister said Pakistani students pursuing higher education in Russia are contributing positively to the country after returning home with professional knowledge and experience.
“Pakistan can greatly benefit from Russia’s knowledge, expertise, technology, and experience,” he said, adding that the association has played an important role in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
Among those who addressed the event were Dr. Shahid Hasan, Dr. Ashraf Nizami, Russian diplomat Gleb Shopin, Anara, Buddhapriya Ramana, Dr. Najm-us-Sahar Butt, and Dr. Nadeem Ahmad Bhatti.
Also attending the event were Amjad Hussain Rizvi, president of the association’s Sindh and Balochistan chapter, Engineer Hasnain Mirza, and Dr. Musadiq Hussain.
Speaking on the occasion, the Association’s Chairman, Dr. Shahid Hasan, said graduates from across Pakistan and abroad attended the event in large numbers and are serving the country in various professional sectors.
Russian diplomat Gleb Shopin praised the association’s efforts in promoting Pakistan-Russia friendship and assured full cooperation from his government.
“We stand shoulder to shoulder with Pakistan,” the diplomat said.
