A major blaze erupted inside Lahore’s Kahna police station on Sunday, reducing crucial investigation records to ashes, 24NewsHD TV reported.
According to initial details, the fire broke out within the building and quickly engulfed sections where important case files were stored. The incident has raised serious concerns over which records were destroyed and whether the blaze was accidental or deliberately set.
Kahna Police Station has recorded the highest number of crime cases in Lahore this year and kept files of several high-profile investigations.
Among them were the CTD inspector kidnapping case, the controversial “jinn kidnappers” case, and multiple alleged police encounter cases—all feared to be damaged or lost in the fire.
Model Town SP confirmed that an inquiry has been launched to determine the cause of the incident, adding that investigators are examining the possibility of negligence or foul play.
The probe is currently underway.
