Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said on Thursday that an accused person’s bail petition should be decided within two months per the law, but jailed former prime minister Imran Khan’s bail petition in the Al-Qadir Trust case had been pending for the last nine months.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Gohar said the verdict against Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case was delivered on January 16. He quoted Imran Khan as saying, "We never said who the judge should be, but there should be quick decisions." He said that currently two million cases are pending in Pakistan.
He said Imran Khan was of the view, "I am a former prime minister, but my case did not proceed like other cases." Despite the court order, he said, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi was not allowed to meet Imran Khan in Adiala Jail. He said that Imran Khan’s case was delisted court’s list of cases on Thursday. He said these cases would be thrown out if an independent judiciary would ever hear them.
Speaking on the occasion, Aleema Khan said she and some other people went to the High Court in the morning for the Al-Qadir Trust case hearing, but the judge left for a lunch. She said the Al-Qadir Trust case hearing had been postponed and the judge had recused himself from hearing the case. She said that Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar was not fulfilling the conditions of justice.
She said that judge Shahrukh Arjumand was in a hurry today. While leaving, he said that two or three days were needed for the judgement and then the case was adjourned until Oct 29. “We want the bail case of the PTI founder and his wife to be heard. Now the focus will be on the High Court. The PIT founder has asked us to file a petition,” she said.
Imran Khan’s sister Noreen Niazi said the KP chief minister came to meet Imran Khan but he was not allowed. She said that Imran Khan congratulated the chief minister and praised him. She said that Imran Khan believed that a revolution would come in Pakistan.
Responding to a question about former KP chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Noreen quoted Imran Khan as saying that Ali Amin transferred the power gracefully. She said that Imran Khan demanded a judicial commission to investigate the November 26 incidents, the Kashmir violence and the Muridke incident involving the protesters of a religious group.
She said that Khan urged the media to raise their voice about these incidents. People should know how much injustice is being done in the country. The PTI founder said that a judicial commission was not formed to investigated the May 9 cases.
