The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday passed a resolution to ban the use of mobile phones in private and public educational institutions in the province, 24NewsHD TV reported.
The resolution was presented in the house by government member Rahila Khadim Hussain, stating that children are the future of any nation and the government has the primary responsibility for their mental and social training.
In the present era, the minds and moral values of children are being badly affected due to mobile and social media, the resolution states. The government should prepare a plan of action to solve this social problem seriously, it adds.
As a first step, this house recommends that a complete ban be imposed on the use of mobile phones by students in all private and public schools. Legislation should be done regarding children's social media accounts, the resolution concludes.
