Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has alerted that monsoon rains are predicted in most parts of Punjab from today, reported 24NewHD TV channel on Tuesday.
According to spokesperson PDM Punjab, the 11th spell of monsoon rains will continue till September 19.
Rain is expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Lahore, Gujrat and Sialkot.
Rain is also likely in Narowal, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Okara, Sahiwal, Kasur, Jhang, Sargodha and Mianwali.
There is a possibility of increase in the flow in the rain drains and canals of Rawalpindi, Murree and Galiat during September 18 and 19.
In this regard, Relief Commissioner Punjab Nabil Javed said that in view of the instructions of the Chief Minister Punjab, Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners across the province are on alert.
He said there is a risk of flooding in the drains and canals of major cities due to monsoon rains.
PDMA spokesperson said that an alert has been issued to the Department of Health, Irrigation, Construction and Communications, Local Government and Livestock.
The citizens are requested to take precautionary measures in bad weather conditions and avoid gathering near rivers and having fun, Relief Commissioner Punjab advised.
Stay in safe places in the event of wind and storms and avoid unnecessary travel, Nabil Javed said.
