A petition was filed on Tuesday, seeking the removal of Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge Justice Azam Khan from the post, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The petitioner was of the view that making Justice Azam a permanent judge of the Islamabad Judicial Service, as well as his promotion, were illegal, so, therefore, he should be barred from working.
The petitioner further stated that the Justice Azam was made a permanent judge despite the fact that he had been transferred to the Islamabad Judicial Service on deputation. “As per the rules, only the judges who were already serving could be made permanent,” read the petition.
The petitioner opined that promoting judges who were on deputation was also against the rules. “Therefore, Justice Azam was not eligible to become an IHC judge as well.”
