Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) Board approved outsourcing 2,200 line staff, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
2,200 line staff will be appointed through a private contractor in Faisalabad Electric Supply Company.
FESCO fixed the rate per lineman at Rs65,207, and assistant linemen will be recruited at Rs59,791 per month.
An amount of Rs 1.59 billion will be spent on outsourcing the staff annually.
The annual contract will involve an amount of more than Rs1.84 billion, including sales tax.
The outsourcing agreement will be finalised after completion and scrutiny of legal proceedings.
It has already been finalised to separate the responsibilities of outsourced and permanent employees.
